Northcoast Aikido
The Northcoast School of Aikido was founded by John Thomas Read upon his return from Japan in 1977. Read Sensei is widely recognized for his ability to teach the full variety of Aikido technique, in a concise, clear, and powerful way.
Read Sensei has taught practical technique and a complete philosophical basis for power through non-resistance for over thirty years. Read Sensei has also developed and continues to teach Aikibojitsu -- the Art of the Staff.
Martial Art Styles
The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at Northcoast Aikido:
Programs & Class Schedule
* Beginning Class:
Monday (Read Sensei) 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Wednesday (Ilene Sensei) 6:00 - 7:30 PM
* General Class: Tuesday & Thursday -- 6:00 - 7:30 PM
* Weapons (Bokken, Bo, and Tanto):
Thursday – during part of regular class 6:00 - 7:30 PM
* Aikibojitsu: Requires an extra ($10) donation:
Saturday 7-9 AM
Classes listed above are for adults, with minors (teens) admitted on an individual basis.
Children's classes:
* Young Ones Aikido (6 - 9 year olds):
Mondays 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.

* Intermediate (10 - 12 year olds):
Wednesdays 4:00 - 5:00 P.M.
Sensei: Peggy Ilene
* Teens 13 and up: Are welcome at our adult classes.
