Humboldt Isshinruy Karate
Beginners are welcome! Isshinryu Karate is a classical style of Okinawan Karate. Participants learn basics, forms (kata), sparring techniques and a direct, effective form of self-defense. Robert Sherman, eighth degree black belt and chief instructor, has taught Isshinryu Karate concurrently at HSU since 1979. Classes are taught throughout the academic year (including summer) and are open to all community members. This class is taught to all levels and students may earn rank in Isshinryu Karate. Several students have earned the rank of black belt throughout the 30 plus years of instructions. Other instructors include Eric Lien sixth degree black belt, Nicole Doan third degree black belt and Jamie Garrison first degree black belt.

Programs & Class Schedule
Class are held Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. in room 126 of the Recreation & Wellness Center (Forbes Complex). This class is open to the public through the Center Activities Program at Humboldt State University.

Kids Karate classes are offered through HealthSport in Arcata, Ca. Mondays and Wednesday for ages 7 to 12 from 4:30pm to 5:45pm. Contact HealthSport @ 707-822-3488 for more information.
