Kodokan Aikido at Virginia Tech is a non-profit and registered student organization that meets on the Virginia Tech campus. All of our instructors have been practicing actively for at least ten years. Our chief instructor, Truman Capone (black belt, fourth degree) has been a practitioner of the art for almost thirty years and came to Aikido after active study of various internal and external arts such as Tai-Chi/Chi Kung, collegiate wresting, and karate for twenty years.
We are affiliated with the Aikikai Foundation through our organization Kodokan Aikido which is headquartered in Okazaki, Japan and the USA branch out of North Carolina -- the Greensboro Kodokan Aikido Dojo. Our group has strong ties with Japanese culture, and all of our ranks evaluated here and at the organization headquarters. Our ranks and membership card are honored at any Aikikai school in the world.
