Mixed martial arts (MMA), which involves the mixture of Muay Thai, boxing, Karate, jiujitsu, grappling, and others, is a perfect all around combination. Getting training for this type of sport is a great way to lose and maintain your weight because it involves disciplined workouts. Your routine will also involve strength training and cardio exercises that will improve your stamina, flexibility, and coordination.
Aside from the physical benefits of MMA, you can also learn discipline and professionalism. You will also know how to handle your anger and strength since its principles teach you to never use your skills for violence; your training is strictly for self-defense and competition. Character, confidence, and courtesy are developed as you gain better control of your skills. MMA training is also very difficult, so you are taught patience and humility. This sport also introduces responsibility as it emphasizes the liability of each practitioner to his actions.
Because of the physical, mental, and spiritual rewards of mixed martial arts, many people have adopted the sport into their daily lives. Parents encourage their kids to undergo training, organizations and youth groups have started classes for their members, and even companies invite their employees to enroll in classes.

Martial Art Styles
The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at South Prospect Martial Arts:
- Jiu-Jitsu (Jujutsu/Jujitsu)
- Kick Boxing
- Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
Programs & Class Schedule
This class is focused exclusively on striking and self defense. We combine techniques from karate, boxing, and muay thai. Ages 6-13 are welcome in the youth class, 13 and older will be trained in the adult program. Students receive colored belts as they progress in our training.
Brazilian Jiujitsu and Grappling
This class includes training in no-gi grappling, takedowns, and conditioning. We combine techniques from Brazilian jiujitsu, sambo, judo and wrestling. There is no ranking system used in this class.
Kettlebells are Russian weight training tools that provide effective strength building, improved balance and flexibility. The classes are challenging and a great workout. We put an emphasis on proper form and safety while weight training.
Our cardio kickbox program is a fun, fast paced class that gives a full body workout and relieves stress. Learn kickboxing fundamentals and burn calories.
