Rutgers Kodenkan Jujitsu Club offers club sessions through Rutgers University as well as adult and children's classes at a dojo in downtown New Brunswick. Children begin as young as 7 years old, learning basic escaping, throwing, and grappling techniques.
Professor Barbara, Chief Instructor, is Shichidan (7th degree black belt) in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, and is one of the highest ranked women in this system. She has been studying Jujitsu and Judo for over 45 years and started teaching classes at Rutgers University in 1978.
Rutgers Kodenkan hosts an annual weekend-long Jujitsu and Judo Seminar at Rutgers every fall, this year's event is scheduled to take place September 22, 23, 24, 2017. Instruction will cover the basic lists of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu with additional classes in: Kodokan Judo, weapons, and Therapeutic Asian Bodywork. Classes will be available each session that are suitable for participants with no previous martial arts experience.
