OBI Karate offers instruction in Okinawan Shorin-ryu Kobayashi-te in Virginia beach. We believe that to learn self defense one needs to learn self control. Karate always begins with defense and ends with defense, all Kata echo this concept. We teach Karate in the traditional manner, the way it was intended to be taught including the use.

Programs & Class Schedule
We are open Tuesday and Thursday with classes starting at 6:30pm and Saturday classes starting at 11:00am.
We offer classes for Teenagers and Adults. As a general rule, we consider a teenager to be any child currently in middle school.
Teenagers can join our "Green belt Challenge" where they will work to earn their green belt. The students will focus on control, kata, kumite, and other techniques.
Students can also study traditional Okinawan weapons.
