The Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei, Inc. (World School of Traditional Martial Arts Federation, Inc.) is an independent martial arts organization that seeks to preserve and promulgate the traditional martial arts of Japan, including Okinawa. It was founded in 1994 by Colonel (Retired) Roy J. Hobbs, Hanshi as a means of providing instruction, and certification, in the various martial arts he has studied for nearly 60 years. Hobbs Sensei holds senior grades in Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Kobujutsu/Kobudo, Nihon Karate Do, Nihon Jujutsu, Nihon Iaijutsu, and Toyama Ryu Iaido. All grades awarded by Japanese and/or Okinawa based groups. MSgt (Retired) Guy Witt, Godan-Renshi has trained and studied under Sensei Hobbs since 1984. Sensei Witt teaches the classes in Sedalia and Warrensburg area.
Dentokan Mission: To preserve and teach the traditional martial arts of Japan (including Okinawa). We strive to accomplish this in an environment free of intimidation, politics, and other distractors. We further seek to foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding, welcoming all like-minded individuals, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, religion, national origin, or physical handicap.
Arts Taught Within the Dentokan: Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Do, Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate-Do, Okinawa Kobujutsu, Dentokan Aiki-Jujutsu, and Toyama Ryu Iaijutsu.
