Central Aikido
On a purely physical level, Aikido is a traditional Japanese art involving leverage throws and joint locks to subdue an attacker. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement. Upon closer examination, practitioners will find from Aikido what they are looking for, whether it is applicable self-defense technique, spiritual enlightenment, physical health or peace of mind.
Central Aikido is a full dojo with multiple classes offered throughout the week by talented and dedicated instructors. The unique combination of Aikido backgrounds of our instructors brings to the mat some of the wisdom and experience of some of the best Aikidoka in the US, creating an experience not normally found in other dojo.

This allows older students to focus more on full technique, while younger students can develop their fine motor skills and aiki principles.
Group One
Ages 5-10
This group focuses on skill development, aiki principles, fine motor movement, concentration, etiquette and respect through active learning that includes games utilizing aikido skills they've learned and more fun activities.
Group Two
Ages 8-12
This group is comprised of students who demonstrate a higher ability of fine motor skills and concentration. These students are able to branch more into techniques and higher levels of ukemi(falling).
Group Three
Ages 10-15
These students show a high level of concentration, fine motor movement, leadership, etiquette, and more. These classes are run very similarly to our adult classes, and students branch into full techniques, high levels of ukemi, anatomy of techniques, and more.
