Since 1993, Bob Yoder's Kung Fu Academy Tai Shu Do Style Kung Fu has been providing instruction in Kung Fu and the martial arts in the Grove City, OH area.

Tai Shu Do 太術道 when translated is "The Way of Supreme Techniques" and it is a fantastic style of martial art for both self defense and physical fitness.

Tai Shu Do is a combination of several different styles of martial arts uniquely blended to provide the most realistic combat self defense for the streets.

Programs & Class Schedule

Students and enthusiasts of Kung Fu have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense.

Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, Bob Yoder's Kung Fu Academy offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well.

We are now able to schedule private lessons 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Perfect for those who work 2nd & 3rd shifts.

Group Classes Starting at only $40 a month
Monday thru Thursday 7 pm to 8 pm


Children's Classes $20 a month
Saturday 1 pm till to 2 pm

1 On 1 Training $20 per Session

We also offer private classes for $20 per session. You get to set your own schedule 24/7 one hour class. Again this is for one on one instruction for $20 per session and you can schedule whatever days and hours work best for you.

Self Defense

In this day and age I believe that every person both young and old should,

Have some sort of basic self defense because you will never know when you may be confronted by an attacker,

It may very well be a person trying to grab your handbag, or your wallet, or wanting to assault/attack you for

Know reason, and this is where I will teach you how to deal with a situation correctly. There are generally,

Two ways an attacter will attack, from the front grabbing your wrists,shoulders,neck, from behind grabbing,

Your waist,shoulders,neck, and your hair. Just a few simple steps we will show you how to correctly defend,

Yourself in any situation. Having self defense know how will give piece of mind to go where ever you like and,

Do what ever you want, and NOT having any worry in the back of your mind. This is called SELF CONFIDENCE.

Personal Training

Here I offer a personal 1-2-1 training service in all aspects of fitness, for all fitness levels for both men and women of any age,

Either in the comfort of your own home or the gym. Or even just to start off with road walking and build from there.

I also offer group personal training as well for sports teams, businesses, social groups ect.

(1) Find something which genuinely inspires you, it might be a particular activity or a reason.

(2) Set realistic targets- benchmarks will help you to keep going, but dont expect to be a size ten in two months, if your a size sixteen now.

(3) Give yourself rewards-treats will keep you going.

(4) Get support- having back-up when things get tough helps keep you on track

(5) Think positively-celebrate what you have achieved and don't dwell on what’s gone wrong.

What is Taiji?

Taiji (Tai Chi) is one of the major internal styles contained in Wushu. It was originally created as a martial art and the movements of Taiji contain martial applications. It utilizes the ancient philosophy of Yin-Yang and the Five Element theories for its foundation and to establish its training principles. The experience of hundreds of years has shown that practicing Taiji can improve ones health, reduce tension, and cure a number of diseases such as high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, stomach ailments, heart problems and nervousness. The same techniques that were capable of developing internal Qi for martial arts combat, also proved to be effective as life prolonging, healing, and rejuvenating exercises. Today, Taiji is best known by the millions of participants around the world for its health benefits.

There are many different styles of Taiji and a great number of Taiji Fist and weapon routines. However, the few major styles that have been recognized both in China and internationally are Yang, Chen, Sun and Wu style Taiji. Our school offers standard Taiji fist and weapon routines, as well as major traditional and competition routines such as Yang, Sun, Chen and Wu style. We also teach and explain the applications of Taiji movements, introducing and training Taiji Push Hands techniques such as the eight basic techniques, standard Push Hands routines, Free Push Hands etc.

Why learn Taiji? Who Should take this class?

• Best for people who are over 16 years of age.

• Suitable for people who may be in weak health as well as good health

• For people who wish to improve their health, fitness level, ability to focus, balance, flexibility, coordination, stamina, strength, body posture, power, and endurance.

• Taiji emphasizes a calm and peaceful mind. The practice of Taiji stimulates the central nervous system, helps to lower blood pressure, relieves stress, strengthens the immune system, enhances elimination of wastes and the circulation of blood, and channels the flow of Chi through the body's meridians.

What will I learn?

• Standard Taiji for beginners and intermediates including Taiji Fist and Taiji Sword; major traditional and competition style such as Yang Style, Wu Style, Sun Style and Chen Style. Each style may have many routines.

• Yang Style instruction includes: 10 Form, 24 Form, Traditional 108 Form

• Sun Style instruction includes: 72 Form, 93 Form

• Chen Style instruction includes: 18 Form, Laojia Yilu, 56 Form

• Each style has a variety of weapons. You can learn Taiji Sword, Taiji Fan, Taiji Broad Sword, Taiji Double Broadswords

• As Taiji is a martial art, we also teach and explain the applications of Taiji movements; introducing and training Taiji Push Hands techniques such as the eight basic techniques of Peng(ward off), Lu(roll back), Ji(press), An(push), Cai(pluck), Lie(split), Zhou(elbow), Kao(body striking), standard Push Hands routines, and Free Push Hands. Students will also learn how to use Taiji techniques to neutralize opponents, how to use the 'soft' to conquer the 'hard/strong', how to use an opponent's strength against him, how to redirect his strength against him, how to use minimal force to move a powerful attack, and many other techniques.
