Max Wright began studying martial arts and meditation more than 45 years ago, and has specialized in T’ai Chi since 1985. Max is an ATCQA-certified T’ai Chi instructor, teaching in the US for over 27 years.
In “the health benefits of tai chi,” Harvard Health Publications called T’ai Chi “medication in motion” for all the myriad health issues it has been shown to improve for all ages. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports T'ai Chi for fall prevention and the Mayo Clinic recommends T'ai Chi for stress relief. Among many other benefits, T’ai Chi and/or Qigong can boost immune function by as much as 50%; increase brain size; reduce depression and anxiety; reduce or eliminate chronic pain issues; dramatically improve balance, dexterity, and sports performance; prevent colds and flu; lower high blood pressure; reduce ADHD symptoms; and improve sleep.
Max opened his first school of T’ai Chi in Iowa in 1992. Teachers have included Master Edward Jardine (South Africa), Master Tseng Yun-Xiang (USA), and Grandmasters Duan Yu-Chang (Taiwan), Xiong Wei (Taiwan) and Zhao Zeng-Fu (China). In 2007, he published “Looking Through the Eyes of Nature: a T’ai Chi Player’s Guide to the Way Things Are” – an examination of T’ai Chi in the light of consciousness.
