Our Mukin Shori Karate dojo is dedicated to teaching and promoting traditional Shotokan-style karate with the purpose of developing discipline, self-confidence, and physical strength within our youth and adult students. We are a family-oriented karate dojo, led by Sensei Jeff Sanders, 4th Dan and Sensei Jan Smearsoll, 4th Dan. Our dojo’s name”Mukin Shori,” translates to mean “The way to success has no short cuts” (Masahiko Tanaka) and our instructors take great care in developing the whole person through their journey in karate and in life.
We are a U.S. club of Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International (SSKI), which is led by world-renowned International Chief Instructor, Malcolm Phipps Sensei 8th Dan. As a member of Seishinkai Shotokan Karate International (SSKI), we are dedicated to carrying on the traditional karate teaching methods of Shotokan Grand Masters Gichin Funakoshi, the founder, and the late great Japanese Karate Association (JKA) Chief Instructor Masatoshi Nakayama Sensei.
