Seung-Ni Martial Arts Academy
Seung-ni is Traverse City's Premier Martial Arts and Group Fitness Studio. Non-militaristic and positive - Seung-ni's family-friendly classes are great for all ages. Our youngest students start at age 18 months are our oldest are in their 70s. The Seung-ni Black Belt instructors are passionate and dedicated to helping each and every student reach their full potential.
The goal of our Kids programs is to build strong, healthy, happy children who are leaders, respectful and confident. And, the young students learn great martial arts skills and become "Bully Proof".
Our Adult programs are focused on helping students find balance, reduce stress, improved fitness and confidence. Martial arts training is also a great way to build positive friendships, work on going beyond your comfort zone and become empowered with real world self defense skills.

Seung-ni Traverse City was founded in 2001 by Master Kevin Shoults. Master Shoults is a 5th Degree Black Belt Certified under the World Taekwondo Federation. He is also a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and is a certified instructor in Russian Sambo and Sayoc Kali. Master Kevin did his undergraduate work at Michigan State University and his graduate work at the University of Michigan. He trains under his long time instructor - Master Gary Hausbeck.

Programs & Class Schedule
Seung-ni Martial Arts & Fit Club in Traverse City offers child, teen and adult classes in Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Women's Self Defense, Bully Proof & Mixed Martial Arts. We also have Group Fitness classes including Kickboxing, Boot Camp, Body Sculpt and our 4 Week Body Challenge.
The Seung-ni Academy is family oriented, non-militaristic and has great beginner classes. The black belt instructors are patient and encouraging. Our fun kids classes build self confidence, teach respect, instill self control and sharpen focus.
Little Grasshopper Class is for 18 month to 3 year old. Little Ninjas is for ages 3 & 4. Little Dragons is for ages 5 & 6. Child Taekwondo is for ages 7 to 12. Teen Taekwondo is for ages 13-17. Adult Taekwondo is ages 18+. We have a Child Brazilian Jiu-jitsu class for ages 5-12 and an Adult/Teen BJJ for ages 13 and up.
The adult martial arts programs are great for reducing stress, improved fitness, better flexibility, creating balance in hectic lives and self protection.
Our motivating and exciting group fitness classes are great for those looking for an alternative to the "traditional gym" environment. The aerobic kickboxing is an awesome workout that you can burn over 800 calories in an hour!
We offer Women Self Defense Seminar every two months and often teach for groups and events. Please call the Academy if you would like to set up a Women's Self Protection Event.
