I've been involved with the school for some time, and I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone. Master Fry has children he obviously favors while completely ignoring others. He also is very unprofessional, often treating teen students as buddies & there appears to be inappropriate relationships with some parents. He also will sometimes embarass a student in front of the group for no reason. It's a shame, because he does have a lot of knowledge, and there are some other really good instructors, including his wife. But sometimes class instructors are as young as 13. I was so frustrated watching my child be ignored again and again, when he wants so much to be told he's doing ok.

Impatient, way too much yelling and demeaning for the 6 and under group

I love the idea of the discipline that comes from taekwando. I don't love that the way Master Fry goes about discipline. Just imagine, putting a group of young little boys together and telling them to be perfectly still and quiet. They will make noise, fidget, touch each other, be loud etc.. Master Fry's way of handling this is to scream loudly, call them out, yell some more, threaten and get in their face, and once you are on his bad list you never get off. He hates some of the kids, hates them and the whole room can feel it. In case you are wandering if I am disgruntled, think my kid is perfect parent - I'm not. My son is borderline Asberger's You would have no idea if you met him. He was by far the most intelligent kid in the class, memorized his forms the fastest, could count the highest in Korean etc.. But he has a hard time looking people straight in the eye. This made Master Fry crazy, he also has an extremely hard time sitting still and not talking. There would be days where we would tell him to just tap his finger on his leg and count to himself so he wouldn't interrupt Master Fry, but then Master Fry would be pissed he was tapping his finger. It wasn't until another parent said to me, I can't believe you let him treat him that way. I thought maybe this is what he needed. The truth is - no one needs to be threatened, and told how awful they are. This is not a kid who ever hit, bit, said bad words. Master Fry even told me once how he didn't get it, because my son is a good-hearted kid. However he is difficult. I chose Taekwando to help get control of his impulses. I wanted him to be in an environment where he could see others maintain control and chose discipline and calm. Instead we saw Master Fry just go off every day. If your child is perfectly compliant and quiet - Master fry will love them and treat them like gold. But... if you child is intelligent, challenging and in need of a steady and patient role-model - i would not choose here.
