At Samurai Institute, we invite you to join us in the study of the Aiki martial arts. Broadly, the martial arts world is divided between styles that are “hard”- meaning those focused on the development and application of one’s own physical power in technique, and “soft” – meaning those focused on the strategic use of the opponent’s power against him/her in technique.
The Aiki Arts fall into the “soft” category. You will often see soft written with quotations because so-called soft styles have the same potential for devastating power. The approach to power however is quite different.
To understand Bushin Ryu Masakatsu Ha Aiki Bujutsu Martial Arts and its benefits, it must be said that as a traditional Japanese martial art, Bushin Ryu Masakatsu Ha Aiki Bujutsu is more than simply an efficient method of self-defense. It is a form of Budo – a “martial way”. The word ‘DO’ in Japanese is the same as the Chinese word tao. It denotes a path of understanding, a way of life, and the Way of the universe itself.
