Best Traditional training in the area

Kensho-Ryu has a long history of tradition as an outgrowth of the Nick Cerio's Kenpo system. This school has a strong affiliation/training regimine with both Grandmaster Mark Sheeley (KSR Kenpo) and Professor David Lindsay (Jiujitsu). If you are looking for personal growth for yourself or your child, this is the place for you.

Instills Confidence

My daughter has been learning at Kensho-Ryu in Cumberland for a year now and has progressed more than we could of imagined. She has learned so much, is genuinely excited before and after each class, and has gained a lot of self confidence since beginning her lessons. The care and individual instruction/attention she and all the students receive is excellent. Students earn their rank and know what it takes to move forward. Fees are reasonable and Sensei Linda makes sure that any equipement needed will last beyond a growth spurt.

A great experience for all children as well as the entire family

When I enrolled my eldest son at Kensho-Ryu Karate in Cumberland, I was hoping to find an activity that would enable bim to develop both physically and mentally in a positive manner. I got alot more than I bargained for. My son thrives in this environment! He has formed many friendships while learning a form of martial arts that is both practical and artistic. The type of karate taught is the traditional form of Kenpo that has a long lineage and much traditional attached to it.

What makes this school special is the dedication and quality of the instruction provided by the owner and her staff. Sensei Linda Lane is the owner and head instructor at the school. She has practiced martial arts for over 20 years and has great expertise teaching children of all ages and developmental levels. What makes her special is that she is able to combine her expertise with her experience as a parent to get the kids to respond with amazing results. With the help of her outstanding staff which includes her son and husband(both are high ranked black belts), people of all ages are learning karate in a nuturing and fun environment.

As you can tell, I am very enthusiastic about this place. When my younger son turned 5, I enrolled him there where he is thriving as well. I enjoyed watching them so much in class that my wife and I began taking classes too! The class schedule is very flexible and even offers a number of family claases where the entire family can train together. I would highly recommend Kensho-Ryu Cumberland as great place where the entire family can train together and do something really worthwhile together as a family.

My son has attended Kensho-Ryu since he was in fourth grade. He tried playing football, hockey, soccer and baseball but team sports didn't seem to be the thing for him. When he started taking karate lessons at Kensho -Ryu, he loved it from the beginning. We've never had to fight with him once to attend any of his classes like we had to with the other sports he played. He has ADHD in which this has helped him to learn to focus at home and in school. Sensei Linda has made him work hard physically and mentally to complete each rank. Now after 7 years later I am very proud to tell everyone my son has a 2nd degree adult black belt. My husband and I are very thankful to Sensei Linda and all the other staff at Kensho-Ryu for helping my son become such a fine young man.

This is a great dojo to learn the Kenpo style of Martial Arts. This school has been around since the 80's and is well known and respected. The teaching staff is high ranked, knowledgable and work well with students of any age. Great family atmosphere allows the whole family to join in from toddler to Mom and Dad.
