House of Karate
The Virginia House of Karate derives its roots from the Korean martial art style of Tang Soo Do. We teach an enormous variety of techniques at the studio. Among arm and leg striking techniques, students also learn how to fall properly, throws, and ground fighting. Tang Soo Do forms (Katas/Hyungs) are included in our system to further develop timing, coordination, and rhythm. If a student wishes to learn a weapon we have special weapons classes. We also offer Self Defense classes designed for people interested in defending themselves but not going through a belt system.
Our head instructor, Mr. Calo, has risen through the ranks of the Chuck Norris Karate system. This system can be identified today under the United Fighting Arts Federation (UFAF). He started at the young age of six. He has been teaching children and adults for more than 20 years. Currently he holds the rank of 4th Dan. We are so delighted to have Mr. Calo as a member of our House of Karate family!
