Pelham Bay Karate Academy
Established in 1995, the PBKA is the longest running school in the area. We specialize in teaching traditional Isshin-ryu karate to children and adults. Developed in Okinawa, Japan and brought to America by U.S. Marines, Isshin-ryu will get you in fighting shape and prepare you for anything. Come in and try a free class with Shihan O’Leary!
Shihan John O'Leary has over 40 years experience in martial arts. He holds a 5th degree black belt in Isshin-ryu, a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, as well as experience in jujitsu and kickboxing.

Our classes are taught in an enjoyable atmosphere with old school standards, meaning my students know they have to train hard to see or get results. We do not charge for belt testing at the PBKA. Come see the difference. When you join the PBKA you are not a number; here you are family.
