Kyokushin and Its Impact on My Life

I remember my very first Kyokushin class. As I had already been studying martial arts for about 7 years before I met Kaicho, I was excited and ready for a new challenge. That first class was such a humbling experience for me because I realized that my mental and physical stamina was nowhere near where I thought it was or where it needed to be. Before Kyokushin, I had trained in various martial arts schools, but each one had conveniently kept me from reality, which ultimately lead to self-aggrandizement. My first Kyokushin class brought me crashing back to reality, as Kaicho stripped away the lies that I had been practicing marital arts in. My first Kyokushin class was hard, and I left feeling discouraged and disappointed with how I had perform, yet I was determined to go back because I knew that Kaicho and Kyokushin would help develop me into the person I wanted to be.

Kyokushin helped me improve physically, but I will always remember the spiritual and mental lessons that Kaicho taught me. Kaicho's instruction style is unique because he is able to incorporate old-school karate training with a level of compassion that I would never see before. Kaicho cares for each of his students on his deep level, which caused for me to buy into the Kyokushin way of life. Kaicho taught and gave me the tools to never to quit or give up, to be humble and live honorably, and to be able to be compassionate for others.

Kyokushin has molded me as a person, and, although I am a college student in Colorado, I frequently remind myself of the lessons that Kaicho taught me, physically train when I can, and always stop by to train at the dojo in Connecticut whenever I am home.

True Kyokushin!

I started Kyokushin when I was 21 while I was training in judo. I was looking for something harder, something that could push me farther than I could push myself. My first class with Kaicho did just that and I knew it was what I had been looking for. Kyokushin is about the true fundamentals of training with heart and spirit, to not just condition your body but your mind and heart. Kaicho taught me to push through not matter what was in front of me and that still standing at the end, as long as you gave everything you had was a true victory. He is one of the last true men I know who truly encompasses budo. Kyokushin and Kaicho have helped me to become a Marine and even though, right this moment I am stationed away I practice Kyokushin and all the ideals Kaicho has taught me. I thank him, his family and all of the instructors of IKU for all they have done for me. -Sempai Boni, United States Marine.

I met Kaicho at my job at Starbucks. I noticed how kind and talkative he was to other customers in line. He invited me to join his Karate school and I have been there four years since. I feel happier and calmer since taking Karate. I know my life has improved for the better. The people are kind and encouraging and the exercise is the best I have found. Kaicho is a great teacher. If you're looking for a good workout environment with friendly people and a spiritual atmosphere, this is the place for you.

Traditional, Challenging & Inspirational Karate

I was encouraged to attend a class of Kyokushinkai Karate by a friend who had begun his relationship 6 months prior. I was merely looking for a workout to get myself into a little better shape. Imagine my surprise when just six months later I had loss 5 ½ inches and gained new friendships and encouragement. Under the leadership of Kaicho Farzinzad, IKU is not just about karate, he helps to build a wonderful foundation of endurance, stamina and a “yes I can!” attitude. I was pleasantly surprised to also find a spiritual awareness as well. For those that may be looking for a challenge or change in your life, I encourage you to give IKU a try. You won’t regret it

Great old school Kyokushin karate

Found this dojo while looking for Kyokushin school 8 months ago. Great old school Kyokushin karate school with great instructor. Kaicho Farzinzad had a dynamic, motivating teaching style that enables you try your best at everything. Quality classes utilizing a variety of traditional elements of Japanese karate.

Also, IKU is a great organization uniting an international group of dojos under the same philosophy: preserving the teachings of Kyokushin founder Sosai Mas Oyama.

Hands down the best traditional karate experience you can ask for

Let me just start out by saying this: There is a full adults class as well as a children's class. Why I start with that is because many kids at other karate schools get caught up in the "glamour" of martial arts, i.e., belts promotions, nice-looking demonstrations, etc. Adults, being more used to how the world works from experience, are generally more cynical and don't get fooled by such tactics.

The adult class has all types of people, doctors, teachers, professors, business professionals, and others. The age of the adult class ranges from about 20 years old to 70+. People that have very committed lives that also commit themselves to this tough disciple. Everyone give 100% and everyone is respected to their own limitations.

Kaicho David Farzinzad lives for Kyokushin karate. He has been doing it for 30+ years and really his only motivation is to spread the traditional teaching of Sosai Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushinkaikan. There is no tolerance for ego, greed, and jealousy here.

Everyone is welcome. Children and adults. Many adults in the class even started by first enrolling their children in the class, and then joined themselves.

If you are looking for the purest form of traditional disciple, both physical and mental, this is the school for you.

I brought my child to the class not knowing who the instructor at the school is a legend. My son has been going there for over 2 years now and I have seen a huge transformation. He is getting better grades in school, he is more focused and behaved at home and he loves the support he gets from everyone at the dojo.

This has been the greatest martial arts school I been to. As a Mixed Martial artist I have traveled around to many schools in CT but nobody I went to had the instructions of a true master like Kaicho D. Farzinzad and his family.

Been training karate since '98. Joined this dojo back in Feb 2013 after coming to school to see if it was right for me.

Kaicho teaches traditional Kyokushin karate as its founder Sosai Mas Oyama taught him. Very hard style of karate and kaicho is an amazing teacher and great motivator.

Great group of students to train with as well

Kaicho Farzinzad has passion and dedication for traditional Kyokushin Karate that is inspiring. I started 4 years ago to help build stamina and stay in shape since I was in my early 50's. I didn't realize how out of shape I was. Once I started classes with Kaicho, I realized this was what I had been looking for. A place that would help build my stamina and endurance as well as my physical and mental strength.

Kaicho is old-school traditional and he takes what he does very seriously. He is amazing with both children and adults. Because of his dedication, he has a well-deserved following around the world.
