Welcome to Zanshin Kenjutsu Kenpo Karate of Hudson Ma. Zanshin Kenjutsu Kenpo Karate is a Koryu(traditional) martial art system. It combines the traditional and modern disciplines of Kenpo, Kenjutsu, Shotokan, and San Soo Kung Fu Karate . The term Zanshin means to have a correct, perfect, crystalline awareness. It is the continued state of spirit, mental alertness and physical readiness to meet an attack, to be constantly aware of one's surroundings and enemies while being prepared to react. The term Kenjutsu originated with the samurai class of feudal Japan, it is the umbrella term for all koryu schools of Japanese swordsmanship and means the method or technique of the sword. The art of Kenpo, a japanese term translated from the chinese term Chuan fa(quanfa) which means law of the fist, has its roots trace back to the year 520 AD.
Shihan Dave Ghize started his martial arts experience in the Nick Cerio's Kenpo Karate system in Billerica Massachusetts. He received his Shodan rank and his Sensei (teacher) title under the guidance of Kyoshi Paul Parent on June 3rd, 2000. In 2001 he received his Nidan rank and in 2004 he received his Sandan rank both under the guidance of Kyoshi Paul Parent. Shihan Dave was an instructor at the Billerica dojo until 2005 when he opened his own School in Mendon Massachusetts. In 2008, Sensei Dave moved his dojo from Mendon to Hudson Massachusetts. Shihan Dave achieved the rank of Yondan on June 6th 2010 and on December 2nd, 2012 Shihan Dave recieved his Godan Rank from Kyoshi Paul Parent and Kyoshi Chris Horlbogen as well as being given the title of Shihan.
In June of 2011, Shihan Dave also started training under Kyoshi Chris Horlbogen in the study of Komushin-ryu Kenjutsu, which is the art of the sword.
