Many people will look at the name of our Dojo and wonder how to pronounce it and what it means. So, here is a small Japanese language primer for you. Yuuki is pronounced YouKey and it means Courage in Japanese. Do is pronounced Doe and it means Way in Japanese. So, Yuuki-Do Karate means Way of Courage Karate.
At Yuuki Do Karate, we teach Traditional Shotokan Karate as developed by Gichin Funakoshi and further developed by Masatoshi Nakayama. This style of Karate is characterized by dynamic movements and strong stances that produce powerful techniques and develop the body.
Karate provides many benefits including: Memory Retention, Confidence, Self-Control, Problem Solving, Adaptation, Patience, Respect, Integrity, Humility, Perseverance, Balance, Coordination, Flexibility, Reflex Enhancement and Endurance. It is an activity in which the entire family can participate for their entire life. Unlike sports such as basketball, baseball and football, Karate is a martial art and can be enjoyed year round.
We are the ONLY Karate Dojo in Southwest Louisiana affiliated with USA Karate. USA Karate is affiliated with the US Olympic Committee and is the ONLY governing body in Karate responsible for sending athletes to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
If you want to be the best, come train with the best at Yuuki Do Karate. There is NO better Traditional Karate instruction in Southwest Louisiana.
