TAI CHI: Taught primarily for its health benefits. It is noted for its nurturing aspects of body and mind, such as calming the nerves, lubricating the joints, improving posture and balance. The traditional solo “long routine” is the foundational practice. Advanced practices include two-person drills and weapon forms.
KUNTAO-SILAT: Taught primarily as a form of self-defense. Unique blend of Chinese and Indonesian fighting systems traditionally developed purely for self-defense. Training includes movements and applications practiced solo and with one or multiple attackers, solo routines, sparring, and body conditioning. — Not a sport. Not for show.
