The Academy of Traditional Karate is one of the best run martial arts schools I've ever visited. I have been training in various arts my whole life and I've seen my share of belt factories, and the Academy is not one of them. What impressed me the most is not only how friendly they were to new students, but how many quality long-term students they had. This is particularly impressive given that they are teaching a very respected traditional Okinawan form of Karate. Another thing that impressed me was how respectful and focused the kids were in the facility. Kudos to this fine school.

Classes for kids are too crowded having very little chance for students to practice. Instructors are good but don't have the ability to see all kids and helpers are not good.
You sign a contract for 6 months the first time and then contracts for 12 months. Big financial commitment. Not even for an MBA. If the school is really confident and they feel the quality is good, why do you need to sign contracts? Confidence is one of Karate principles but doesn't seem to apply here.
I have seen my son's class and effective time for real learning in 15 minutes out of the 45. The rest was games non-karate oriented but rather Gymboree style or something they can do at the park. Conclusion, too expensive for 15 minutes of effective time. Too much marketing after the class, tshirts, bags, movies, a lot of announcing, advertising, etc
