Forms are not in any way a "self defense".

The place is closed every time i pass by with no lights on or cars around the bldg. And it has a huge parking area?

Best place in Waco to study true Aikido!

I studied Aikido in CA and had searched for an Aikido dojo in Waco since moving here in 1998. I finally found this dojo nearly three years ago and have been studying there ever since!

There are a couple of other places in Waco that advertise as Aikido dojos. However, they only mix some Aikido with other styles. Waco Aikido and Self Defense teaches true Aikido (which is what I was looking for), not some mixture of martial art styles.

Great instructor, great new location, and the classes and class times are getting better.

A great place for to study that also works with your working schedule.

I have been studying as a student for over 6 months at Waco Aikido and Self Defense. The instructor is very passionate about the art and breaks down the forms so the student can easily understand. Furthermore, the instructor explain the value of the movement so the student understands the concept of the movement in-which helps to mentally retain the forms motions. Please note that the art of Aikido is a mature art so there is no exertion like most of the other Arts. I am 47 and the movements of the forms fit my maturity. The art is also great for kids. I hope to see an after school classes/programs in the near future.

Secondly, I have seen first hand the dojo grow and upgrades in locations. It is not hard to find the building. Anyone can see the sign from a block away in either direction. Best of all, the hours of operation fit my working schedule.

Nice dojo, good Aikido

Don't listen to bad reviews!!! I would recommend this dojo to anyone. The instructor is nice, friendly, and well trained. I've been practicing Aikido for more than 20 years, 2 years in Japan, with the Aikikai. When I first moved to Waco I couldn't find a dojo to practice and I was very happy to find them. Eric belongs to a different style than mine but he knows is Aikido. I've learnt a lot from him. The ONLY reason why I am a former student is because I had to relocate in California.
