It's difficult to explain in words what sets this school apart from so many out there. If I had to pinpoint it, it might be because the goal has never been to "stand out," in the traditional way. The focus of this school has always been on the training, not looking flashy. You will not find us practicing in a new building with shiny wood floors and mirrors, nor will you find anyone trying to advance as quickly as possible to the next rank, nor will you see us competing for trophies solely using stylistic tricks in forms. By joining our Gumdo school, you will join a group of people who have a desire and need to train, and be instructed by a Master who is so passionate for this philosophy, that he will do whatever it takes to make sure you have this opportunity. You will learn this art by practicing the same basic moves over and over again, each day seeing the same cut or stance in a new light. You will be asked to instruct newer students, and in teaching, learn how little you actually know. Additionally, you will find that practicing the sword opens you up to opportunities of personal reflection, in which you will realize that the skills you develop in Gumdo translate to all areas of life. I strongly recommend this school and instructor over any other!

Haidong Gumdo is an art that keeps you coming back for more, it starts out quick and you learn at a fast rate. This school is a great place to train with lots of space to move and swing swords around. The physical conditioning can be tailored to those of any level from very young to very old.

Master Rob is very patient with students. He's willing to break tings down into smaller and smaller steps until we are able to grasp the technique. This keeps things fun and helps relieve frustrations. A great place to workout, learn and have fun!

I started taking classes in November 2011. The location is central and easy to get to. The classes are not too rigid or stressful but are fun and serious. There are men and women of all ages that attend. I feel like I am learning at a good pace and enjoy attending. There are often seminars and other additional trainings offered. Overall, a GREAT place to have fun, work out, and learn sword!

This is a really fun class, with a great teacher who personalizes teaching to advance every student as fast as they need to. A good workout, while not being too strenuous for students with more advanced ages. And also wonderful for personal emotional and spiritual growth.

Gumdo a soft, graceful, flowing sword art that is still strong and effective. It will help you grow as a person and is a great stress reliever. Amazing exercise for your mind and body. The instructor is a patient teacher and takes time with each student assessing individual needs. The school doesn't require you to sign contracts and is a comfortable family oriented atmosphere.

Gumdo is a very low impact martial art that allow people with limitation to exercise and tone without the huge physical stain. I am 70 years old and I have received my Black belt in this art.

Additionally this dojong does not require the traditional contract to attend. it is based upon a respectful agreement between student and teacher.

Haidong Gumdo (Korean Sword) is a one of a kind martial arts experience that enhances the understanding of the student in how their body moves. Since this is a no-low contact art there is little worry for those that are getting up there in age. I would recommend this school to those that are looking to spice up their martial arts experience, with this eloquent but fierce Art.

I have been training in Haidong Gumdo under Master Frankovich for a little over two years, and since the beginning I've been extremely pleased with the way he teaches. He makes technique understandable for students of all skill levels. Unlike many martial art instructors today, he takes the time to properly teach all of his students, so that each belt I get is one I know I have earned. Haidong Gumdo is great for anyone, from 13 yr olds to people in their 80's. The experience is excellent. I would highly recommend this class.

I've been training in Haidong Gumdo for at least 3 years or so now and I cannot see anything wrong with the dojang. We have an amazing instructor, amazing students, and much more. You will have many opportunities in the Twin Cities area, and even around the world to compete and train with this Martial Art. I've already been out to Utah for the Pan American championships and had a blast. Next stop, Korea for the World Championships! You will have lots of fun in your training.
