Many a month have I sweat while hitting things, swinging things, moving myself and others all over our mats to work my skills and develop as a way to maintain wellness. I suggest it to anyone.

I've been a student at Vital Point Martial Arts for several years, although I took some time off due to personal reasons. When I decided to come back again a couple years ago, the instructor, Tom Macaluso, welcomed me back with open arms as if I had never left.
Sifu Tom is the real deal. He is an instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto as well as having other martial arts credentials. Besides his vast experience in various martial arts (including Kali, JKD, Muay Thai, and Judo among others), he is always trying to improve himself. This has been an inspiration for me as you can see the passion he brings to his classes.
The Vital Point community is growing and very friendly. People train at VPMA for different reasons - some compete in combat sports, some do it for self-defense, and some do it for fitness (or a mix of reasons). Tom fosters an environment of respect for each of these and we all train together and help each other improve. We train hard but safe.
In summary, I'm glad to have found Vital Point martial arts. I've done different martial arts over the last 20 years, and so have had other good instructors, so it was easy to notice that Sifu Tom had all of the qualities I wanted for an instructor and more! He has been a mentor, trainer, and friend to me, and has help make martial arts an enjoyable part of my life.
Tom is a great instructor as well as martial artist. His best quality however is his ability to impart his knowledge in a way that works best for you. While I can't train with him as I live too far away, as a former student I hope anyone that cans will take the opportunity to train with him.
