Very Disappointed

As the Father of Isabella and Maddox Competente, I am very disappointed with what has transpired within the last few days at this dojo. My daughter,Isabella, even before my wife, Kiyana Competente worked there, was a student at the Bamboo Village. She has trained there for over 6 years and in that time represented what a true Karate student should be. Not only did she move up in the ranks but achieved a junior black belt at such a young age. Yesterday, we were informed that Justin, the sensei, at the Bamboo Village, felt that my children were a charity case and that they were not welcome there anymore via text!

What I cannot believe is that Justin, who we put in the care of our children, would think that of the children he teaches. I know as a Martial arts student you are taught RESPECT for one another. As a Sensei, a teacher, you want someone who practices what he preaches.

I remember when this dojo was solid and had an atmosphere of family. All of the high ranking students are gone. I have to question that? Why are they gone. What has happened? My children had nothing to do with the dealings of the management of this dojo! To take it out on them makes me question what is the real reason why the Bamboo Village is open? What is the mission statement for this dojo? Is the concern for the student? IS IT? Are you getting the full attention of the sensei's teachings without interruptions? Who is teaching the classes, lower belt students who shouldnt be or is the sensei giving his full attention to his students.

I would ask that you go talk to the man. Ask him what is his mission statement for the kids are. Is he approachable? Will he answer your questions? What is the culture of that dojo. Is it a winning one? If there are changes, watch how long they last.

I am a very disappointed parent from former students of the Bamboo Village.
