My name is DIO SANTIAGO and I have been professionally involved in Martial Arts, Self-Defense and the fitness industry for over 30 years as a personal trainer, self-defense, fitness and martial arts instructor. In addition to tactical training and a law enforcement background, I have trained extensively in Kenpo, Wing Chung, Hung Ga, Sil-Lum Kung Fu, Bhagwat Gung Fu, Taekwando, Muay Thai, Japanese Karate, Jujitsu, and Aikido, as well as earning my Golden Gloves in boxing. DEPENSA KALYE is a comprehensive, integrated system that combines elements of martial arts, self-defense techniques, western boxing and fitness conditioning. The core of DEPENSA KALYE is self-protection and what is effective on the streets.
DEPENSA KALYE incorporates empty hand training as well as weapons training. Students practice on a variety of equipment, including punching bags, body opponent bags, focus mitts, kicking and body shields. Our students learn the foundations of muscle memory, body movement, strikes, kicks, leverages and throws, as well as kickboxing training, grappling, ground application and physical conditioning. Heavy bag workouts improve hand-eye coordination, quickness of reflexes, how to gauge distance and effectively land punches or kicks on a target.
