I have been training in the art of Takeo-Ryu Goshin Jitsu under the instruction of Ken Keith Master Teacher (The Founder of the System) at the Takeo-Ryu Garage Academy, since June 2012. I attend classes (3) days a week wherein we learn Warm-up Exercises, Stances, Hand Techniques, Kicking Techniques, Break-falls, Joint-locks, Joint-Dislocation, Breaks, Throws, Ground-Fighting, Avoidance Techniques, Escape Techniques, Knife Defense, Chokes, Vital Points of the Body & Vital Point Striking Techniques. I am currently a Blue Belt 7th Kyu, soon to be eligible for promotion to Green Belt 6th Kyu.
We are taught how to yield to an attacker's energy and redirect it to the attacker's most injurious disadvantage. Master Keith teaches practical, tried and proven techniques & strategies to quickly overcome would-be attacker(s).
The Training is thorough, challenging and rewarding... the cost of which is surprisingly affordable. Safety is first, in a supportive atmosphere which encourages an awesome "family" positive vibe between Sensei and students. Lots of genuine care and concern in class and beyond.
"Each one, Teach one - Each one Help one is our motto.
If knowing how to defend yourself effectively in real, street-level confrontations is what you want to learn, then Takeo-Ryu Garage Academy is where you want to be!

From the moment you enter the dojo you become a member of Shihan, Keiths family. If you havea problem inside or outside the dojo then everyone has a problem. Shihan, Keith not only teaches excellent and effective martial arts, he teaches character. He is an excellent example of how to be a living and giving person to the community. Thanks for allowing my wife and I to become members of this Takeo Ryu family.

Takeo Ryu Founder and Head Instructor, Ken Keith Shihan is an excellent Master Teacher. Shihan Keith and his Senior Student/Black Belt floor instructors are patient and thorough. Repetition is the order of the day and no one gets left behind. The Self- Defense/Street applications are practical with no razzle-dazzle BS that might result in iffy execution. It's truly about self preservation, survival and the destruction of an attacker.
The Takeo Ryu Senior Citizen Self-Defense Class meets every Thursday at the Hansberry Center located at 4034 S. State Street.
Class Hours: 10 AM until 12 NOON. The cost is very affordable, just $5 per class.
You can contact Shihan Kieth at: (773) 344-2131
