I come from a Korean style of martial arts. WTF Tkd. This is an American style not Korean. I visited the school to see what the hypes about. The Tabers do a fairly well job with the school. The only thing missing is adults. They have more children and should promote more for adults. Their American style is missing a lot of key components that needs to be incorporated. They're depriving kids and adults what real TKD is. I spied on the school for a week and a half. Their training is the same flow. Bow, basic techniques, drills(they should emphasize more on), form and self defense. In order for the student to be great, they need to mix up training styles and work more on floor drills. I'd love to show the students what real TKD is. The type of training they're giving the students is not pproductive enough to be great. I feel the everyday training flow they give students is depriving them from other aspects of Tkd. I know there's more to their style of TKD. Surely. If only they didn't emphasize so much on defense and form. I didn't see any counterattack defenses, nor not enough joint locks and pressures. Tabers you're making AMAI TKD look bad. Get out of your everyday training clout and not bore your students. Never mislead them. You're setting them up for failure if they were to run into a real situation. As a WTF 6 degree master I'm trying to support you by advising you to train your training regimen and do more floor work. Provide more kicks flat foot kicks to jump kicks. Come up with different self defenses. Be creative. Your style of training makes me yawn.

The Tabers strive for being a good school.I can only speak for myself.I enjoy being at the school.Everyone has their own right of opinion. No ones to agree. We all can agree that we go to a school to get training. We try to be our personal best.I have respect for what some of the schools are teaching.ATA is no ones favorite style of TKD.But I learned something that I enjoy.I feel we as all schools should get along and not bicker with who's great or better.Success comes from oneself. If there's a training that's not offered, I'd go to another school to get it.But, I''ll always remain with the Tabers.I''ve been treated with such kindness and received the help I needed. The school does seem to run like a daycare. But we have to meet and see what we can do to clear that up.I believe in improving oneself and utilize that at the school. The Tabers are still fresh at teaching and they are still learning how to be instructors.I think it's great that we finally have an MMA school here. It's actually in my area. When free myself I plan to go there to get extra training in my art.I thank the men for bringing such a dynamic art here. The opinions I''ve read will give me better will to see what we can do about the daycare situation to see that we get the young kids to act like martial artist.

My son took lessons here for over a year and we felt like he just wasn't learning. It's a very nice school and the owners where always very nice but the classes always seemed unorganized and they spent most of the class standing around and playing. Sorry but i can not suggest this school to anyone.

A Day Care Center

WOW,I just had a friend text me and inform me that this day care center questioned the quility of MMA College in the bottom of body Tech. Ok, let me start off by saying i know them and they are all certified to teach and have spent alot more years training than the Tabers have. And yes they can teach MMA because they have trained in many style because thats what MMA is, a mixture of martial arts, you need to get your facts straight. And as far as helping the community, Tabers claimed they are the only ones who do this, again get your facts straight because you are not the only ONE! For instants, WMA in Valdese are doing Cancer benifits on a regular basis if you don't believe it then go to their face book page. Also The Wei Shi Bei got with South Eastern Martial Arts and did a seminar and raised money for The Cancer Society and several other charities! Look on their facebook as well. Same goes for MMA college and many other Martil Arts schools in the area. I have never said anything bad about another MA school until now, but you ask for it because of your false claims against other schools. So yes i agree with other post that Tabers is not a real MA SCHOOL they are a day care.

First of all to the person who wrote about Bone Breaker Gym and claimed that they have no certified teachers or have never fought in any matches. This is a total lie! All of their Instructors are certified and many fight in matches on a reagular basis.I have been to Bone Breakers and to Tabers and have seen first hand. Bone Breaker is real and these two little girls are playing want to be martial artist. If they think they are so good then why don't they fight in real matches and not play tap tournaments! Silly little girls.

I''ve read some of the negatives from sources stating that we''re not the school to learn TKD.We''re a progressive style of martial arts.I recommend this school due to the involvement in the community.I have'nt heard any other school involved in anything. We''ve done St.Jude to raise money. We also held a tournament at FHS.None of the schools put money or effort for such.I''ve traveled to the seminars to learn more about TKD.No one should criticize our school as well as the Tabers.PLEASE leave the Tabers and the staff at TBBA alone and respect what we''re teaching. All schools are different and teach a different style or method of martial arts.We do our best to teach and share what we learned to our students.I feel the criticisms should be kept to yourself.

WTF came from ITF.Read the book A Killing Art.It details why WTF came into existence. It should detail in why so many elements of M.A. is broken and so differently from other arts.We can learn and benefit from each other as long as we learn to appreciate each other's art and method of teaching.M.A. is always going to be controversial. We can argue and debate over what works and what does'nt.We should stick with our principles and method of training. Not criticize. As long as we''re getting one's attention. We should not lose it.One lastly.I always thought M.A. was always about respect.Right here is a great start.

A Clay and Tomoe Gozon.Just so you know depending on how long it takes to get your BB.It quite does'nt matter. You have a right to your opinion.I will not back down from your challenge of opinion.Depending on the pace ,the time, and energy you have as well as training you could get your bb in a matter of no time.Depending on your instructor.Fastpacing or fast training .You have a method of training and past experiences. If you have a way then stick with it.But don't stand there and criticize what we do.ATA is a good art.Full traditional TKD was frustating to one who learned ITF TKD which is why he took out what did'nt work and kept what did. There are still a whole abundance of TKD.You may say it does'nt work I say it does.If you criticize us, you criticize all other arts as well.As long as you say negatives about this school, The Tabers may not say anything. But I''ll say bad about what others are saying to.Schools I am implying.

Being at the TBBA.We work very hard at trying to provide the best training there is at the academy. There are those who are jealous of the Tabers success of running a good school. There are those who don't know jack about M.A.It angers me that there are critics out there who does'nt have no respect for this school.I give it that if you don't like what we provide then go to one that will help you.Giving BlackBelts quicker.Traditional or non traditional.Schools are going to be ran differently. There are plenty that don't run the same.ATA madeup M.A.Well what about other M.A. that are made up.Ninjutsu has been tampered with.Kenpo as well.Wing Chun transitioned to JKD developed by Bruce Lee.What about the so called MMA at Bodytech.Question why are people being taught so called MMA and the instructor has never been in a professional fight. Now what does he know about MMA.What do you get paper champs.Who's teaching BBJ and his name has'nt been out on the streets where's the proof and certifications.Leave TBBA alone.Leave the criticisms to yourself.

IT'S A DAYCARE CENTER!

I visited the school to continue my training in Tae Kwon Do and start Tia Chi, and was very misled to believe this was a traditional school. First of all they teach some made style they call Tae Kwon Do (ATA),and they were claiming they were 3rd Degree Black Belts. I did not see the skill level of third degree, and i had a 12 year old trying to show me self-defense techniques that will not work. Kids are running everywhere using bo staffs to hit standing targets running across the exercise area while Tai Chi classes was being taught. The girls were promoting to some parents that they can hold Birthday parties in the dojang. What!!! that is very disrespectful. What is sad is that these kids are being taught bad techniques with a false since of security of skill. It is obvious that the Black Belt Academy has no respect for the art or the would not be promising a black belt to theses kids in a year and would teach some respect in their dojang. lastly they are to costly $85.00 a month for a day care center is crazy.

I found this place in the burke savor but i didn't save any money i spent a fortune. My child took class from this school for 5 months and everytime i turned around they wanted more money for uniforms and special programs. I watched the teachers play around and talked most of the class while my child learned nothing. I finally had enough and i am now looking for another school. I would never recomend thi school!

The way they teach, including not particapaiting hands on, lets students down in the long run. If your child is ever in a confrontation they will know no more about defending themselves then if they read a book on self defense. The instructors themselves talk badly about their students, and share secrets that their students confided in telling them. I saw first hand these problems. I would never let my child train here again, and I will quickly explain to any friend who thinks of placing their child here either.

A disgrace to true martial artist!

I took my 12 year old son here to try a class and will never go back.I could not believe how many black belts they had and how long it took the students to get promoted anyone who is a real martial artist knows that it takes at least 5 long hard years to become a 1st degree black belt and on one review i see a student who admits to only being a student going on 4 yrs and is working on his 3rd degree, wow. I can't tell you how much this upsets me. And i feel sorry for the parents who are spending their hard earned money on this school and don't know any better. They are turning their children out into the world thinking they have good martial arts skills when in reality they DON'T. People please check out other schools and find a good martial arts teacher, trust me they are out there just not at this school!

I know a real martial arts teacher when i see one and these two little girls are not it! I visited their dojo not to long ago and watched them teach a class and i found it, VERY AMUSING. They claim to be very high level but were very LOW level and are pumping out black belts after only two years of study, really now. I am very afraid for the students at this school which think they are being taught to defend their selfs but in reality they have only learned enough to get hurt. There are some true martial arts schools around with teachers that have many years of knoledge and ability. If you want your child to learn real martial arts i recommend the Wei Shi Bei Guan or South Eastern Martial Arts these men are Real masters and have been teaching over 30 some years!
