The so Called Silat instructor Shihabudeen or Shapalox real Name Ruben Subia was my instructor in Bend Oregon, he has abused his position and betrayed our trust. I came across this as I was looking for Silat schools here in MI. honestly I was shocked when I saw his name as an Instructor. he used to touch us female students inappropriately while trying to convince us that is part of the training. well we were not fools, we love the Art but we hated him and his sneaky ways.

Shihabudeen Shapalox, real name Ruben subia is not a real Silat teacher, he is absolutely fake and has been claiming his long years of training. He lied about his training and much more. Search for a real Silat teacher. I have witnessed him being corrected all the time by Brunu.

The comment from SDart should not be even recognized for quite a few reasons.

He obviously has no knowledge of Silat being that "Batak" is the name of a tribe in northern Sumatra Indonesia, hence the name "Batak silat". This tribes Silat system can be found if you travel to Indonesia locally known as one of the original and traditional forms of the art. Very little will be found online being that it is a closed door system and sacred to the tribal elders, but you will find it, just look up silat batak. Shahabudeen (the instructor) received extensive traditional training from an Indonesian Guro here in the states, I will not name him out of respect as he has passed away (great man). This site allows anyone to comment so the legitimacy of one mans claims should not be taken as truth. I Personally have trained with Shahabudeen, know his martial family and his martial history. I Trained Taiji Bagua and Xingyi prior to meeting Shahabudeen and Training Silat under his instruction. If you contact him for instruction you will be blown away at the ability the lessons will give you, physical limits you once had will fly away. Peace!

Amazing art, great instructor. A beautiful philosophy of life. But very mystical and combat effective.

The instructor Shapalox Shihabudeen is a charlatan. He taught here in San Diego briefly only to move on to Indianapolis and now Cincinnati. After further investigation I was able to find out he trained less than 1 year in silat and his name is actually Ruben. Furthermore, I found Silat Batak is not a recognized system in Indonesia or anywhere else except as the fabrication of Shihabudeen.
