My daughter has been taking lessons here for two years, since her 4th birthday. She loves the classes and training. Kevin instills self respect and discipline through his teaching methods, all while the kids are having a great time. It is also great that there is no contract. My daughter took two months off when she wasn't sure if Karate was her thing. We didn't have to pay for those months and she was welcomed back without a question. We were even invited to join the family events while she wasn't attending classes. The Smith family has an event for the whole family every month (roller skating, pool parties, holiday parties).

I have been involved in the Martial Arts on and off since 1977 and have attended 6 different schools over the years I can honestly say that Sensei Smith and the Smith Family Dojo is the place you want to train. It is a great place for Adults and children to learn not only self defense but a Traditional Martial Art.

My son just started training about 5 months ago and earned his orange belt with the help of Sensei Smith. My son loves going to his karate lessons. Aside from the skills, he also developed self-confidence and discipline. Smith Family Dojo not only holds classes but organizes monthly events which are family-oriented as well. Sensei Smith makes learning more fun. My son says he's an awesome instructor.

I have never seen a more warm and inviting atmosphere in any dojo in the area. Usually when you walk in to a one, you feel intimidated, well you do not here. Sensei Smith takes the time to get to know each and every student, and their family members. He makes everyone feel at home, part of his family, and the Smith Family Dojo Family. He has developed a program that has empowered his students and encourages them to be a part of their community. As a parent I see how teaching them self defense and respect has given my daughter the knowledge and power to protect herself when she goes off to college.

All four of my children go to the Smith Family Dojo and they enjoy going. They all look forward to going. Sensei Smith is a wonderful teacher who is kind caring and patient with all of the children. Not only does he teach them the proper movements but he takes the time to explain why it is done that way. He has gone above and beyond to help my children be able to attend his classes. I am very thankful that we found such a wonderful dojo that is so great and family orientated for my kids.

I have been a student of Sensei Smith's for many, many years. Two things about his teaching that I love...First, it is traditional, no flash in the pan, or "trendy" stuff...it's the real deal, and only 4 generations down from the Master, Seikichi Odo. When you watch Master Odo do his kata, it's almost exactly like we do ours, no change over the years, or watered down versions. Second, he doesn't sugar coat it or rush you. You work for what you get, and when you get a promotion, it is because you have earned it, and You know your stuff. I always hoped that Sensei would be able to start a dojo, so that others could get all the great teaching I received...not only physical, but mental. A lesson he used to teach us (called "going to the forest") is a technique I have used many times in my life, both in and out of the martial arts area, and one I consider invaluable for any martial artist, or anyone in general. He knows respect and honor, and teaches it. And if there's anything kids need nowadays, it's respect and honor. You would be doing your family and child a great service by enrolling them in the Smith Family Dojo.

My two children have been attending The Smith Family Dojo for a few months now and they absolutely love it. Mr. Smith is so kind and patient ,yet teaching them so much about karate. My children have such a sense of confidence every time they leave class. I am grateful to have quality Karate classes so conveniently close to my home with such an amazing instructor.
