Great place to learn Krav Maga

I have trained with Master Nolte for over 18 months. She is an excellent instructor. She is very patient with her students and each and every class I leave with a positive feeling of what I have learned and my ability to apply it. She is a very accomplished martial artist and as you get to know her you will be highly impressed by her skills. She is very easy going but by far one of the best instructors I have had regardless of the subject. College station has a world class instructor and facility right here and I am grateful to have to opportunity to be trained by her.

Great School with a great Instructor!

My son and I started taking private Krav Maga lessons from Master Renee Nolte in October 2014. We searched extensively for a qualified instructor and our search led us to Master Nolte. I have been very pleased with her knowledge, determination and unique ability to make the training both fun and challenging.

When we began our training Master Nolte asked what we would like to accomplish then she set up a training schedule exclusively for our situation and she has kept us moving in the right direction ever since.

Give Master Nolte a chance and I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. As you can tell I highly recommend University of Sidekicks and Master Renee Nolte!

Not very good.... A very poor place to train.

I wouldn't endorse anyone coming here if you are serious about training in any of the martial arts they teach. Master Nolte will smile at you and be pleasant when you come in to try out a class and then when you sign the contract you will figure out soon that you made a mistake. The instructor spends a lot of time pumping herself up to the students, taking days off and canceling classes on a whim. She even wrote a review for herself on here giving herself 5 stars… You don’t realize this when you sign the contract that she will take half a month off during the holidays; however you will still be paying the same amount. The Jiu-Jitsu class is weak with the level of instruction, Krav Maga is ridiculous which Master Nolte isn't a black belt in, Karate is probably the best that they have to offer, don’t even think about MMA here. Any form of self-defense is better than none; however I’m sure there is better in the area without dealing with the arrogance and added costs that comes from this place.

A great school to study Martial Arts

I have been a student at U of Sidekicks in BJJ and ladies self defense for over a year. I have been greatly impressed with this school and Master Nolte. She pushes me physically to limits I did not think I could ever achieve. This is an affiliate school of the highly regarded Rodrigo Pinheiro school in San Antonio and Master Nolte personally trains with Rodrigo and consistently brings new techniques back to her students. Master Nolte not only teaches BJJ and other martial arts but she is also a certified firearms instructor and has worked with me to sharpen my handgun skills.

She seems to take a personal interest in each of her students no matter their age or skill. My training with Master Nolte has been life changing and I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in training in self defense and/or to keep themselves physically fit.

We have the Best Students, and offer the BEST Martial Arts training. As a business owner I have come across some of the greatest people and blessed to know them. I have also come across some bad folks in our school. People like this don't last long because where there is good there can be no bad, and they get weeded out. I've learned to take the good with the bad for a season and People of Integrity have been with me and my Organization for many many years, the students who have zero loyalty, respect and integrity do not last long and seek quickly for a place to accept them and be among there own. I only want the best members in my school, best meaning positive attitude, disciplined, loyal, honest, hard working, and if they are not and are open minded they learn from positive principles that we teach and end up being just as awesome, otherwise they are bitter and do as much damage as they can to try to get folks on there level. Well, I recommend that those interested in seeking a place to train bring your family, come in and meet us, we are excited to meet you!! Don't take my word for it, or the biter's review below as there are some bad reviews from a not so nice person with a poor attitude who is trying to do some damage, I highly recommend you come in anyway and I know you will be glad you did:)!

Have an Awesome Day!

Very Poor Place to Train

This place is one of the saddest places to train. You start out with great promise just to be asked to purchase this or be required to have that for a cost of course. Promoting is few and far between and the promotions are not really based on knowledge but did you pay the $50 fee to test which basicly covers a piece of paper and a $5 belt. The main instructor spends more time pumping up herself that she has no time to spend with students and you are left with instructors that have little more 2 yrs. of training. This is the last place I would train and promoters and gyms in the area refuse to do any business with this school.

I have been training wih Master Nolte for awhile now and I am excited to enter my first big competition in BJJ. I feel really prepared and I know she has done all she can to help me. I wish people could understand how great of an instructor she is and how she really cares about her students, they aren't just "business numbers" to her. She is good for a reason--I am going to the competition with a positive attitude knowing that I have learned from the best and will strive to do my best! Thanks Master Nolte.

Head Instructor not all that...

I will have to agree with some of the other comments made … Ms. Nolte is the classic title seeking martial artist, the problem is she spends no time actually living up to the titles and certificates she gains from going to her weekend certification courses. That combined with an overblown sense of grandeur makes her one of the worst teachers I have ever been involved with in or out side of the martial arts. My dad always told me that most of the people who speak loudly about themselves actually produce very little. This school is a classic example of that comment, all talk and no true depth.

You don't know what you have until it's gone. And after I left the school I realized just how bad it really is. The instructors claim a lot but produce very little as far as skill. If you are a new student looking for a school don't believe the hype from the head instructor at this one, if you do it and will only take you a short amount of time to find out that that is all it really is, HYPE! You will not find a seasoned martial artist training here and there is a reason for that. They generally only catch new people that don't know any better than to sign up at this place much like I did and grew to greatly regret. I honestly believe you would be better off watching YouTube videos and learning that way instead of joining this school.

Not a good place to learn and train

I have been training for about 7 months at Sidekicks. Durning this time I have taken almost every art they offer there. I am not going to re up my membership when it ends. I have trained with several martial artist over the last few years and she and her business are hands down the worst. She is what I would call a seminar martial artist. He depth of knowledge in the arts she teaches is very weak and not that of a seasoned instructor. The school nickels and dimes the students and the hours are not good for an adult to train there. It caters more to small kids and that's the mentality that they portray. Ms. Nolte is never there and when she is class is all about her. NOT a good place to train....

It's a great place for the family to study Martial Arts

When we moved here to College Station to join TAMU, we were looking for a place for our whole family to study and train at and we found it at the University of Sidekicks! Master Nolte is great with the kids as well as the adults. She is straight-forward, enthusiastic, skilled, and you want to come back each class and do your best. I have had previous martial arts training and find her style of teaching very effective, dynamic, and accurate. As a mother, I trust her with my children and I know she will teach them to not only defend themselves, but also to be better citizens. I definitely recommend Master Nolte and this martial arts school!

Poor service for the price

I am sure the good review is from friends/family of the owner. The classes are not up to standards and frankly lack skill and proper instruction. Testing is more like a review than an actual test of skill. The school is not an official training center as the sign would have you believe. Master Nolte is more interested in selling you items and charging for extra services than she is in teaching a quality class. There are a lot of issues reaching Master Nolte and she makes you feel as if her time is more important that yours as she is only available when it is convenient for her. I am not a former employee nor was i kicked out/asked to leave her school, although, I will probably be asked to leave the school once this review is posted! I am just glad my contract is almost up so I am not wasting anymore of my time.

University of Sidekicks is an excelent place to train

My name is Stacy Roberts and I'm a bodyguard out of Atlanta Ga.

I had the unique and most gratifying oppurtunity to travel to College Station and train with Ms. Nolte. While there, I trained in the arts of Krava Maga and Keysi fighting methods. I found Ms. Nolte to be very knowledgeable and talented. With her real world training of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies she has the real world skills that are needed in my line of work to enable me to protect and better secure my clients. I feel Ms. Nolte's programs are reality based and a necessity for anyone wanting to better equip themselves for real world violent confrontations.

I have trained in many martial arts and fighting methods over the last 20 years and find her way of teaching very informative and easy to learn. She is an excelent instructor and I look forward to my return vists.

I also have her Ultimate Krave Maga DVD's and use them whenever I have the chance.
