Welcome to Shunpookan Aikido North Carolina! Established in 2005, SPK NC is the only traditional Aikido school in Gaston County. Conveniently located in Gastonia, North Carolina at the intersection of 321 North and West Franklin Boulevard.

Shunpookan Aikido is a Hombu recognized system with dojos in the United Kingdom and the United States. Our gradings are recognized by Aikikai-affiliated schools worldwide.

Dan Gilbert, 3rd Dan, Fukushidoin leads Shunpookan North Carolina. He has trained in martial arts since 1974.

Brian Burrows, 7th Dan, Shihan leads Shunpookan worldwide.

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Additional classes are available on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 11:00 am by appointment

Students below the age of 15 are accepted after evaluation by the instructor.
