Since my daughter joined Shotokan Karate Center I've noticed that she has become a lot more confident in herself. Kansho Imada's instruction also instills discipline to exceed in other areas of life. Shotokan Karate Center excellent staff provides each student with the support to succeed in the dojo.

I myself started in a different dojos and had countless opportunities to see different styles along with teaching. By far none Shotokan Karate Center is in a league of its own. The school is headed by the Chief Instructor Kancho Paul and Sensei Sherine. Kancho has such a tenacity for the students that he pours his whole heart and soul to what he does to see that all students reach/surpass their potential.

This is evident by the countless fruits that this dojo had inspired in past members, from certified medical doctors to an individual working for NASA that had not too long ago put a satellite into space. Each of them can verify they would not have been there if it wasn’t for what they learned under Kancho’s guidance.

Kancho like a true martial artist has not become stagnant in strictly teaching techniques taught 40 years ago, but have been creative due to his extensive knowledge and exposure of martial arts. He has created a special advance program for the black belts in being exposed to different martial arts, learning a good foundation while always staying true to art itself. Overall Shotokan Karate Center is one of those rare jems; that if one finds it and knew the treasure they are holding they would simple never let go for it is precious beyond any price.

I have been training at SKC for about 12 years now, and I would have to say that this dojo is the best Shotokan dojo in the state of Hawaii. Imada Kancho, and Sensei Sherine are very dedicated instructors whose goals are to not only make the student learn how to defend themselves, but also to train their mind for their future well being. During the 12 years that I have been training here at SKC, I have learned to stay focused,to be humble,to persevere, and to stand up in front of others to teach. But most of all, I have learned excellent karate.

Shotokan Karate Center (SKC) in Pearl City is the BEST karate dojo! Imada Kancho, master of the dojo, promotes excellence in his teachings. He feels all karate-ka have the potential to do well in karate, providing they are focused, disciplined and humble, and they practice basic techniques that are perfect and solid. And, he never gives up on any student.

There have been many karate-ka who have moved up the ranks in SKC, and they have done well in school and in the work environment because of the teachings of SKC. They learned excellent karate, and also lifelong skills that have made them better individuals to succeed.
