Shorinji Kempo encourages students to develop self defense techniques through regular practice in simulated situations. Students practice escaping from being grabbed or learn to defend against punches and kicks. Students are expected to show respect for fellow students and teachers.
Shorinji Kempo emphasizes training the mind and body equally. This style is taught in 32 countries worldwide to 1.5 million students all learning the same techniques overseen by Headquarters in Japan.
Sensei Hagata is a 7th degree black belt who currently is an US Representative for the US Shorinji Kempo Federation to the World Shorinji Kempo Organization. This is his 25th year in the community teaching adults and children from 5-70.
