Shorin Ryu Butokukan Karate of Williamsburg
Shorinryu Butokukan Karate of Williamsburg teaches traditional Okinawan karate with the eventual aims of self-improvement and the ability to conduct and defend oneself in a violent situation. It is the USA headquarters dojo for the international association and therefore the instructors are held directly accountable to highly proficient instructors in Okinawa (Japan).
The head instructor, John Spence, has 30 years of martial arts experience and has taught self defense at several prominent organizations, including LSU law school. He holds a 7th degree Black belt.
It does not require a binding contract with minimum training weeks or hidden fees making it an increasingly rare training opportunity.

Martial Art Styles
The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at Shorin Ryu Butokukan Karate of Williamsburg:
Programs & Class Schedule
Beginner adult classes run from 5:30 until 6:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Beginner youth (under 13) classes run 5:30-6:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Intermediate/advanced classes run from 6:30 'til 7:30 PM. Intermediate youth classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, adult classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
From June until September members can attend any class of their level Mondays-Thursdays. (I.e. adults can attend kids classes and vice-versa.)
During the school year there is a sparring class every Saturday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM, and a weapons (intermediate/advanced students only) class from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
Intermediate/advanced students are encouraged to come and train privately during beginning classes.
A first sample class is free. Afterwards, a monthly due is charged of $119 or less, depending on payment option and number of students. An annual association fee of $25 dollars is charged every January. Students are expected to purchase their own equipment but there are no contracts or hidden costs.
