Nick is awesome! He is great with children, he works with adults and teens too but my experience is with kids. He respects them, has amazing patience and builds on their individual natural talents. His focus is on quality core training and self defense. Shi-Ki seems like real world self defense, sometimes I think other forms of martial arts are more focused on contests and tournaments.

I've only done Shikee karate for a short time. However in my short experience there it has been a very positive one. Nick teaches because he loves to teach and he loves the style. He has a sincere will to see all of his students do well and will take the time to help you learn and answer questions.
His assistant Evert is also very accepting of those who come in to learn and just as eager to see all of the students do well. They along with their students both create an atmosphere that is both inviting and encourages you to learn.
Shikee does teach some very real self defense techniques that can be used in real life situations if practiced enough times and properly. It also teaches point sparring which I have found to be fun and an enjoyable pass time.
I am excited to continue my experience underneath their schools instuctions

I have been taking shi-kee/shi-kee for almost two years now, I have enjoyed it and have been going just about twice a week. I also have been doing some private lessons on the weekends. Before I started shi-kee/shi-ki I was looking around at other martial arts gyms and dojos. This was it for me from the first class I went to. From wrestling most of my life and the military training this is what was best for me. I get all around grappling to stand up and real life situations not just tournament fighting. In any situations I have more confidence because of the art.

Just a quick note re: Nick Jensen and his Shi Ki Karate.
I began studying karate in 1982, got my first black belt in 1989. So, I have had many years of exposure to karate styles, systems, dojos, methods of teaching/training and Sensei s.
I have observed Nick under a variety of teaching conditions and I have participated in his class. I also know of Nick’s personal integrity and honesty and I vouch for them as well!
Now as for Nick’s training-he is organized, concise, thorough and respectful. He is knowledgeable and observant. He loves Shi Ki and he loves his students and his investment in both is superlative, surpassing by far the attention and effort found in most people and their ambitions and goals today. Nick’s teaching style is pragmatic but not boring, and his techniques are well explained. Most human beings (but particularly karate teachers) must injure, belittle, mock, or otherwise put others down in order to make themselves powerful or place themselves into a leadership position. Nick takes charge with a subtle, powerful, respectful ability that creates an atmosphere wherein students want to study and to stay with the system for years to come.
Nick does not just automatically award belts either. Promotion is real, advancement, skill, and knowledge with Nick are real.
Nick relates well to all the age groups I have seen him train with and I would recommend him as a karate instructor without reservation.

I have been in the Shi-Ki class for over a year now and absoutly love it. It is the only martial arts school I have found that teaches real-life defense. The others all seem to be for show. Here, I have learned how to take care of myself and those I love. I strongly believe everyone should have some knowledge of how to defend yourself. This class is great for anyone.

I wanted a course that would help my son focus, gain confidence and learn self defense. In less than a year I have seen significant improvements in all of these areas. Nick Jensen is firm, but incredibly patient. I recommend everyone.

I have been studying under Nick for a few months now, and have found that his professionalism, attitude, and instructional quality are very impressive. Shi-Ki is a wonderful art and I would recommend that anyone looking to improve their fitness, discipline, or learn a new hobby check out what Nick can offer.
