We are a traditional martial arts school offering expert instruction in Isshin-Ryu Karate
and Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method. Private classes in Matayoshi Kobudo (Okinawan weapons) are also available. Training at Seishinkan focuses on self defense and real world applications.
School is run by head instructor, Dean Mayo. Sensei Mayo has been training in the martial arts for 40 years and has 30 years of experience teaching martial arts. He has trained with Sensei Michael Calandra - 10th Dan Hanshi since 1999. Dean holds the rank of 8th Dan Kyoshi in Isshin-Ryu Karate under Sensei Calandra (IWKA) and 5th Dan in Matayoshi Kobudo under Sensei Michael Calandra. In 2013 he was accepted as an Indoor Disciple of Master Chen Zhongua in Chen Style Practical Method Taijiquan. Dean has also trained in Sosuishitsuryu Jujustsu and Hunyuan Qigong.
Dean served as a police officer for 20 years in NY and acted as the departments Defensive Tactics Instructor since 2012. Dean is also a graduate of the FBI Firearms Instructor School and holds numerous certifications in shooting and tactics.
