Saratoga Budo | Japanese Martial Arts
Budo is the Japanese term for Martial Arts as a whole. Saratoga Budo teaches with the intent of developing well rounded, mindful, creative martial artists. Though each student's path in training is unique, our training is based on universal principles found in all aspects of combat that apply beyond the training hall. Join us and train in a traditional martial arts program that applies technique to modern combat and offers the opportunity to travel and train in Japan with the masters.

The following Martial Arts Styles are offered at Saratoga Budo | Japanese Martial Arts:

- Jiu-Jitsu (Jujutsu/Jujitsu)

Programs & Class Schedule
Jujutsu is a martial art that specializes in the manipulation of an opponents joints, balance, and movement through locking, striking and redirection of energy. The Samurai employed these techniques against single, multiple and armed opponents. Descendant arts include Judo, sambo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu (via judo), shooto, aikido, hapkido, bartitsu, and German ju-jutsu.
Batto-do is the Japanese martial art of drawing and cutting in a single motion. Such a method was preferred by Samurai as opposed to long drawn out fencing matches. Students will learn basic postures, directional cuts, and re-sheathings. Kata are also taught as a fundamental method for understanding principles such as posture, footwork, and moving in unison with the sword.
