Sandhills Karate Club is a small, serious school that teaches shudokan karate. Sensei Mark Cohen is a former Air Force officer with more than thirty years in the martial arts. He served on the Colorado Combative Sports Commission (formerly the Colorado Boxing Commission) for three years, but now lives in Nebraska. He is part of the Tiger Arts organization.
Tiger Arts has roots that can be traced to Grandmaster Sam Brock, Dr. David Brownridge, Grandmaster Peter Rose, and Grandmaster Paul Dusenbery. Shudokan is a "hard" style founded by Kanken Toyama, who incorporated many of the softer movements he learned while studying in Taiwan.
Ours is a serious school. The minimum age for students is fourteen, although the school may accept 12 and 13 year-old students if the instructor approves.
