The chief instructor is 7 dan! It is unusually high rank instructor in US. Also they have 6 dan and other instructors to lead the class. Since they practice as the city recreation activities, they charge very cheap but instruction is quite high revel. All ages practice together. They said that it is the custom of the Kendo. I saw that advanced young students couldn't beat 60+ students at all! Some students obtained trophies at the all US tournaments. They teach not only the techniques but also the manners and the philosophy. I think it is also great especially for kids.
I went to observe the practice and had the trial lesson on last Tuesday. I'm considering to join the school now. The practice is harder than I was thinking but I had very good lesson. The fee is only charged annually except the very small fee to City of San Mateo. It isn't like the city's recreation programs but very high quality instruction the same as private martial art school.
