Welcome to Rocky Valley. Aikido is a martial art where you can learn self defense, develop and strengthen your body and mind and polish your spirit. Rocky Valley Aikido is the best place in Menlo Park to begin your martial arts practice. Here we will both challenge and nourish you as you explore the warriors path, learning to bring the secrets of the art of peace into your life.
Aikido is a wonderful Japanese art, often called the art of peace. It's an art where students learn the skills necessary to come into greater harmony with themselves and the world around them. Strengthening our relationship and appreciation of the natural world helps us to become more centered, increasing our capacity to flow and come into greater harmony with the challenges of life.
At Rocky Valley Aikido, training on the beach and hiking in the mountains is encouraged along with regular training in the dojo (training hall). Training in the mountains was a key component in O-sensei's training (the founder of Aikido). Currently our senior teacher, Kato sensei, who is an 8th degree blackbelt visits us from Japan twice a year and still trains regularly in parks and in the mountains along with his regular dojo teaching and training schedule.
