The Richmond Virginia Area Meyer Freifechter Guild, a Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) study group devoted to the research, development, practice, and spread of legitimate historical European martial arts. This is where you go to learn the real martial art of the historical longsword, arming sword, dagger, pole arms, and spear along with the striking and wrestling that go along with it. Programs & Class Schedule
We meet on Saturdays from 10:00 AM until around 12:00 PM at the home of our current leader, Seth. We also meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM from April through August.
The first Saturday of every month we host a newbie class for those interested in joining. These are held from 10:00 AM until around 12:00 PM at Chimborazo Park. Please contact us (rvamffg@gmail.com) if you are interested in joining or fill out the form here: https://tinyurl.com/3d9yc8b5
The recommended age for the group is at least 18 years old, but we are open to discussion for younger students. A wavier and emergency contact form will need to be completed to join the group. Loaner gear is available in limited quantities; we recommend members purchase their own gear when they are financially able to do so. At this time, the RVA MFFG is a free club, but donations are welcome to handle the cost of new loaner gear and study materials.
Communication is generally held via a text group, Discord chat, and Facebook.
