So when my kids were looking into activities one of them had mentioned martial arts. I didn't know much about it at all. I herd it could be a good activity so I started my research.
After looking around at the various schools in Natick it was obvious this was the place to go. From the start Sensei Paul C. was extremely helpful in educating me about martial arts and what the mission is for his students. He wanted to make sure my kids and I had a positive experience.
One of my daughters was extremely shy and I didn't think she was going to be into it at all. But Sensei Paul was somehow able to pull her out of her shell and keep her smiling and trying hard every class.
One of the things I love about this school is that they don't just focus on the physical part. The instructors are constantly having talks with the kids about goal setting, how to overcome their fears, eating healthy, you name it. It is great to here someone my kids look up to reinforce the values I try to instill in them at home. Somehow when he says it they seem to listen a bit better. haha!
It has been a few years now and all my kids are as motivated as ever. It has been a great experience for them. Even if you have never considered martial arts at all for you kids, give it a shot. It is worth it.

So when I want to get involved in an activity I make sure that I do my due diligence. So when I wanted to get my son involved in the martial arts I made sure I checked out every place in Natick and the surrounding towns before I made a decision.
It is a good location right in the middle of downtown Natick. It is not a huge place but they make the most out of the space they have. There is plenty of equipment to make sure the kids can vary their training. But the thing that really stands out is the instruction.
Sensei Paul Castagno has a knack for adjusting his teaching style no matter what kind of personality the child has. He seems to always have energy and constantly comes out with new ways for the kids to work on their material. That part is great because my son tends to get bored with things quickly. The kids are always having fun but never out of control and they seem to be learning valuable self-defense that they could really use should they need to. I know it has done wonders for my child's confidence. He also has a few assistants that teach there as well and while they are teenagers, they are mature and have a great rapport with the kids.
I can not comment too much on how the adult classes are run but I have caught the beginning of them as I leave the school with my son. They seem to really enjoy it there and I am seriously thinking of giving it a shot.
In conclusion, you owe it to yourself to at least give this place a shot. I feel the program is a great value and I doubt you will be disappointing.
My son has been a member of the RMF community for 9 years. He started taking classes at age 5 and has developed into a confident junior black belt and is now an assistant instructor. We came to RMF to learn martial arts, but we stay for the sense of community, sense of fun and the positive values that Sensei Paul incorporates into every aspect of the school. RMF not only challenges kids physically, but also challenges them to be better people. Sensei Paul stresses a rare combination of kindness, compassion, respect and confident fighting skills. I firmly believe that kids that grow up in a supportive inclusive community become adults who help foster positive communities. I am so pleased that my son is growing up in the RMF community.
