At the Himawariyama dojo we do the Japanese martial art of Jodo.
Jodo is the fighting art of the stick, called a Jo, used in defense against the sword.
We trace our lineage back to the famous samurai Muso Gunnoske, who in the year 1605 founded the art.
The Jo is practiced both outside and inside a dojo. We practice alone and against an opponent in what is called a kata. The kata training is done with no protective gear and the weapons are real.
