Portsmouth Aikido is a non-profit organization dedicated to practicing and teaching the traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido. We have been in continuous operation since 1995, and in that time we have instructed hundreds of students in the New Hampshire seacoast.
Our goal is to provide top-notch instruction and a positive community for kids and adults to learn Aikido. In our training, we aim to develop effective technique that doesn't rely on brute force and does not harm the attacker or allow oneself to be harmed.
Our practice includes partnered techniques (pins and throws), weapons (sword, staff and knife) and ukemi, the art of falling and rolling. In a typical class, we bow in to begin, warm up with stretching and conditioning exercises and continue with paired practice.
