Few decisions are as important for parents as choosing a martial arts studio for their kids. Over 4 years ago, I did extensive research on the martial arts industry and on most of the leading schools within a 30 min drive of Farmington. I chose to enroll my 3 children (now ages 10,9,&7) at Plus One Defense Systems. They have thrived and learned a great deal about self-defense, character, mutual repsect, and many other skills that are paramount to success. I highly recommend a visit to this school if you would like the very best that martial arts has to offer.

They have a lot of classes to choose from and a bunch of different instructors. I like the diversity of the classes and the students. They even have a women's specific class. I recommend them if you are in the area.

pretty decent school,bbj and karate programs are good.muay thai and mma are ok. not really what i was looking for....but good for kids.
Best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Connecticut

Plus One Defense Systems has the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program in Connecticut. I have tried many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools. This one is the best. They have several instructors. The head black belt is very knowledgeable and is a great teacher. The other instructors are great too.
Plus One Defense Systems has a great kickboxing and karate / kung-fu program, in addition to the BJJ program. It's great to be able to cross-train in all the different styles, without having to pay any extra fees, and the schedule is very flexible. They also have a full fitness center and private showers.
