I have not yet been here to the new location. I notice that they only teach once per week right now, per their website. I know Sensei Patterson and have had to occasion to work with him in the past. Sensei Patterson is a phenomenal Martial Arts Instructor and I recommend to everyone to try out his School and his system of Kenpo. The only bad thing I would have to say is that he does not teach enough. Great to see you back at it Sensei!

My son just turned 7 and has been attending Patterson’s Martial Arts for almost a year. The atmosphere at the dojo is clean, pleasant, and family friendly. The instructors are professional; the curriculum is well tailored, and the focus is always on the students and their forward progress. The instructors have a style that is conducive to learning, and I appreciate that they are vested not only in the students' progression in martial arts, but also in their general well-being and happiness. For me, the greatest reflection of this school is how happy and motivated my son is to attend on a regular basis, and how eager he is to learn from these instructors.

I have trained all over the US and been a part of MANY Schools. This is a small but VERY family friendly DOJO. The first one in years that is all about the program no the $$$$. If I could I would train there everyday. The staff is about the student not their EGO's. People that are a part of this DOJO and Kenpo program are all treated like family with a strong sense of RESPECT that every person has for one another not because of DOJO politics but of a genuine caring that is the basis of the program. I would recommend this school over many others in the valley, just because I know the program works.

My children absolutely love Patterson's Kenpo Karate.

My favorite part of Patterson's Kenpo Karate (child's view) "They put 110% of teaching me Kenpo Karate"

As a parent I pleased with the way all the staff respect my children and expect respect in return. My children have really started respecting me as well.

This is an awesome dojo and we will continue to bring our children for as long as possible.

Thank you to all Patterson's Kenpo Karate Staff

This school is very clean. I have personally watched the instructors and students hand scrubbing the mats. Mr. Patterson mops 1 or 2 times a day. The gym in the back is clean and organized too. It smells like bleach, fresh and clean. Sometimes it gets a little funky during the classes but that is cause people work out in there! Their school is organized and there is always discipline and respect in there. The instructors have a lot of fun with the kids, but it is orderly. There is always a direction. It sounds like who ever wrote that review has NO experience at the school. They are just being negative and resentful of a good school!

My family and I visited this karate school a couple of days ago. We found a friendly group of students and teachers there. They invited us to try classes, answered our questions and invited us to try out classes. We were not able to (sorry guys) but we will come back. This karate school even has gym that we are encouraged to use at no extra cost! If we end up moving to the valley, we are signing up here!

Wow. I have been a Student for almost 2 years now and the place keeps getting better. It is great to see the new instructor and his teaching neatly added to the existing Kenpo. I feel that I get so much already, and now I can add to my self defense skills with the Jiujitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA. I really love the open-mindedness of our school!

This school is endowed with a friendly, knowledgeable staff that provides in-depth quality instruction. I can learn traditional Kenpo karate, high level MMA, muay Thai kickboxing, wrestling, combat sambo, judo, boxing, weapons, fitness, for less than the other places that only offer ONE of these options!!! Mr. Patterson, Mr. Holliday, and Mr. Woolard are a combined encyclopedia of martial arts savvy, and the variety of instruction keeps it fun! I will definitely be coming back!!

I have seven years previous experience in Kajukenbo. Before making my choice to train here; I visited many other dojo/dojang in the Rogue Valley.I watched Mr. Patterson and in my thoughts, a talented martial artist with a lot to teach. Patterson Kenpo is not a "Black Belt Farm." You are treated with respect from the moment you come through the door. Every student is expected to earn belts with sweat and character.

I am one of the Instructors and Students of this Dojo. The testing requirements here are geared to ensure that Students earn their belts, that it is not a "Belt Factory". This is the only School I have been involved with where students can fail their test, and have failed in the past. This is also the only I know of where Students are allowed and encouraged to help teach other Students, under the guidance of the Instructors, of course. This allows the Student/teacher to progress and refine their Kenpo very efficiently. My Wife and Son also attend this School. We have prior experience from a number of other Schools. We are staying here. So, if you get a chance, come on down and check us out. Thank you.

I am not a Student of Sensei Patterson. I do not attend his Classes, but I have been keeping an eye on this School via Justin.tv and I drop in from time to time to watch what and how he teaches. All I have ever seen is a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and a clean Dojo. His equipment is well used and well kept. His Students are happy and hungry to learn. All in all, this is a good school. I still study Martial Arts and I am 63 years old. If I did choose a Dojo to learn and study in, this is where I would go. Thank you Sensei for letting me watch and relive my younger days!

So, I have been a student at Patterson's Martial Arts for 4 months now and on April 27, 2013 I had my first belt testing to go from a white belt to Orange belt. I was somewhat nervous about preforming my self defense techniques & white belt kata but the two instructors Mr. Patterson & Mr. Woolard made it easy to test. They made it a less stressful environment which made the testing go easier for me. I still messed up a few times but was told by both instructors that I did a great job for my first test. They are both very encouraging and it makes me want to learn more. I am excited to keep learning. Thank You for a great experience.

His attitude has improved greatly during our time with Mr. Patterson and we look forward to many more visits to this dojo.

My husband has done martial arts as long as I have known him and my son has been doing martial arts for almost 2 years now. I never thought about doing it myself til I completed the woman's self defense class that Mr. Patterson offered last month. I enjoyed the class so much that I decided to join Mr. Patterson's martial arts school. I have really enjoyed every day I go. I love the flexibility that Mr. Patterson has for classes, and the fact that an adult can attend the kids's class, and a child can attend the adult class and still get the training that you need to learn. No one makes you feel weird or out of place even if your an older woman in the kids class. I attend the child class one day a week and the adult class 2 days a week and truly enjoy myself. If you ever thought about doing karate even once you should give it a try especially at Patterson's Martial arts. Thank You Mr. Patterson & my family for making this a great experience for me.

Patterson Kenpo Karate is all of those things and more! These are the tenets by which the dojo is run and by which each student is expected to live their life. In my personal experience with this dojo I have seen a great improvement in my son. Not just socially, but in his confidence level and his habits. He enjoys being active now. Where in the past I had a hard time getting him out of his room. He actually wants to live a healthier lifestyle now! It is so great to see my son finally get excited about something other than video games. I love the changes I have seen in him and they have all been for the better and we have Patterson Martial Arts to thank for that. They have done wonderful and amazing things for my family. We plan to be long term students!!!!!!!

Patterson's Martial Arts Combines the fitness of a gym and the Attitude of a Respectful Dojo all in one. Coming from a background in Kung Fu, I find his classes Entertaining and Motivational. I'm in the best shape of my life and would highly recommend Patterson's Martial Arts to anyone that wants to truelly go beyond what they think they can learn.

I also recommend his Dojo, to anyone that would rather eat McAwesome instead of at a McDojo

Mr. Patterson has a horrible past. My Family and I are aware of it. We believe that Mr. Patterson is a better teacher because of that fact and that he recognizes how bad his past is. He has never tried to be dishonest about it, and NEVER brought out any political agenda, at all. We would not be in his instruction if that were the case. We will be satying with Mr. Patteson. We will also HIGHLY recommend Mr. Patterson and his School to everyone. Mr. Patterson teaches respect and kindness, and how to defend yourself very well. Come in and see for yourself before you judge him or this school.

A great blend of fitness challenges and learning martial arts skills

My doctor advised me to exercise. I had a choice of joining a gym or learn martial arts, which I have wanted to do for decades. Paying money to pedal an exercise bike that goes no where was not of interest. I wanted to exercise but also learn a skill that would be interesting and helpful. I am in my mid-fifties and was worried that I would have difficulty jumping into a physical sport.

But after talking to Master Patterson, he reassured me that he will physically challenge me but he would be respectful of my health and my transition from couch potato to physically fit. He monitors me during the fitness class to ensure that I don't over do things but does provide a formidable challenge, which I really like.

Master Patterson is very knowledgeable about martial arts and has a great teaching style that helps me not only learn how but why. In other words, how to apply my new skills to real street conditions. I am super impressed with the level of importance that he places on the environmental hygiene of his school. He makes sure that his equipment is properly sanitized and his mats mopped. I would not have expected that level of detail and am glad that I chose his school. I work in the healthcare industry where super hygiene is expected and practiced, little did I know that a martial arts school was just as diligent. Good job Master Patterson.

Even though I am at the beginning of my journey to black belt, I am pumped about his program and look forward to the supportive environment and being part of the family of like-minded students.

I highly recommend Patterson's Martial Arts to everyone wanting professional instruction in a great school. Steve

My Family and I attend here and will be staying with Mr. Patterson and the School for the forsee-able future. We thank Mr. Patterson for all of his patience and all of his enthuesiasm in teaching!

This small community has been given the opportunity to give the town people a big punch with the ALL NEW PATTERSON'S MARTIAL ARTS and family fitness center. Talk about two birds with one stone; how much fun it is to have a place that a family can gather not only for some fun, but also learn a valuable life skill of self-defense against would be attackers. I love this place; this new business encourages personal performance goals that are mutually agreed upon by the students and the instructor, Mr. Patterson. This implantation increase both student success as well as the business’s success. Techniques are well planned, well executed and well followed through until the student as well as the instructor feels comfortable and has the confidence to test to the next degree in belt level. This martial art studio is not a push fast business to develop unskilled black belt students; it is developed to move forward with each student on an individual basis.

Students range in age from pee-wees- age 2 through the good old of 50 and beyond. Also students physical abilities range from totally out of shape, ( which was me) to well-balanced physically fit individuals, all with one thing in common; to produce well balanced, physically fit individuals with the skills to protect themselves in the a event of an unwanted attack.

SO, no excesses, there is no age limit, there is no physical disability, IT'S ALL ABOUT FUN with the added benefit of learning SELF-DEFENSE, all within a family atmosphere. Come join our family.

MEMA and MEMA 2 is a great place to learn. It is very family oriented and really is an extended family. At some martial arts studios when you walk in you can cut the big ego's with a knife. They constantly try to cut down other studios reputations, or disrespect other forms of martial arts and the other students and instructors. Not here. Mr. Patterson is a humble and patient instructor who encourages you to be better. He will make you better. I have come very far under his instruction. All martial artists are welcome, as well as those with no experience at all. Great for kids and adults. This is somewhere I feel great about taking my entire family. I recommend this studio to everyone. But please, check your ego's at the door.
