NSA (Northern Shaolin Academy) is headed by Sigung Norman Smith. He has dedicated his life to the martial arts and it shows in his knowledge and commitment to all kinds of styles. The school is a good fit for those focusing on self defense/tournament competition (wing chun), health and wellness (tai-chi/chi-gong) or for those who just love the art behind forms and weapons (ten sen pai/northern long style kung fu). Highly recommend it.

Sigung Norman Smith is an incredible teacher and practitioner. He creates an atmosphere where you are welcomed, engaged, and wowed by the instruction. This sifus and other students follow his lead and are equally welcoming and helpful. Great place to study kung fu.

This is the best Martial Arts School around! Sigung Norman Smith has dedicated his life to Martial Arts and to his students. He has been doing this for over 50 years and he is the real deal. I HIGHLY recommend this school and Sigung Smith!

Each Tai Chi session is preceded by at least 45 minutes of quigong practice taken from Moving10, 18 Sabachi, Coiling, 8 Brocades, Animal Frolics, or Bone Marrow Washing. Grand Master Smith always selects an interesting mix of quigongs from the above. The students also get a chance to select a quigong themselves. Following quigong are Tai Chi drills and then Tai Chi forms either tought by the Grand Master or by the Sifus. There is also a YouTube channel with more than 42 videos which each student can review depending on his or her skill level. The school strives for excellence and delivers it.

I have been going to Northern Shaolin Academy for about a year and a half and have absolutely no interest in going to another school. One low price and you can attend as many classes as you can, lots of educated instructors to help teach and educate. The owner (Sigung/ Master Smith) not only teaches the marital aspect of your class but the history also. I have recommended Northern Shaolin Academy to many people and will continue to recommend to everyone who is interested in martial arts.

My experience at Northern Shaolin Academy has enriched my life. I’ve been a student there for 8+ years now; the practice keeps me fit both mentally and physically. Master Norman’s teaching is top notch, I feel so lucky to have found this school and my tai chi “family “.

I was referred to this school by a friend. My son had a little interest but was shy. That was 4 years ago. My son under Sigung Norman Smith has grown and matured so much. He has become extremely flexible doing splits and kicks over his head. He has even competed in two Kung Fu Competitions, receiving a First Place Finish in the last!

If you want your child to gain mental focus and physical agility, this is the place. And if you want your child to begin a life long journey of practicing Kung Fu, this is the place!
