I love training here. .. it's a super fun, encouraging, and collaborative environment in which you learn how to use your own body in a natural and instinctive way, with the goal of becoming more comfortable in otherwise stress situations that normally produce tension in the body and the mind and cause one to "freeze". It for me has been one of the best tools in my life for knowing myself and bettering myself. Everything done is growth-minded. The instructor is attentive, thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. just a great guy, all around. the drilling is realistic and done at just the right pace and intensity to teach your body and mind to work, move, adapt. I was so excited to return to Taos this summer partly to continue training here. In addition to Jiujitsu, this is how I stay in shape and clear my head!

For years I have been searching for a fighting style that had it all; fun to practice, good for health, incorporating weapons, and above all applicable in the real world. I am a State Police officer serving since 2005 and so this last point is very important to me. Systema gives me all this and more. I have been blown away at the depth and scope of this martial arts.

I have studied Karate, Kung Fu, Aikido, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and without a doubt I would rather spend my time practicing Systema.

I highly recommend Systema to anyone who is interested in the combat arts or self defense.

Northern Systema is a Study Group and the basic philosophy is that every student is a teacher or we are all just training partners. There is no hierarchy, no dogma, no bowing or uniforms just good honest training.
